Downton Abbey and The Borgias are two very acceptable reasons to be behind on anything! I haven’t watched the other shows, but those two are amazing. I’m so excited for the new Downton Abbey season to start!
Grimm is a present-day detective show wherein this cop finds himself in situations, fighting characters loosely based on the Grimm Fairytales. And Pillars of the Earth is based of the Ken Follet novel of the same title. The guy who plays Juan Borgia (David Oakes, I think) is also one of the main characters in Pillars of the Earth.
Downton Abbey alone can be a huge diversion to any daily routine. I’ve rewatched Seasons 1 & 2 several times already to overcome DAWS (DA Withdrawal Syndrome).
I’ve completed both seasons, but I still have the Christmas Special to watch, so at least I can still relish about 2 hours of it before I go into complete withdrawal
I think this merits a break from the books. I also have gotten lost in Downton Abbey this summer… Recently started Season 1 and now I’m hooked. Also have watched Season 1 of the Borgias. I hope to focus more of my attention books again this fall.
I know! I feel guilty not reading as much, but Downton Abbey is so addicting to watch! I’m done with both seasons (except for the Xmas special), so I’m hoping to be able to get more reading done. *Sigh* I can’t wait til season 3 in January though. It seems like such a long wait!
Yes, I couldn’t help myself. I didn’t want to at first, but my curiosity got the better of me. Yes, I will still read the book, but now that I know the story, there’s no urgency. The story is good, but I think I can wait until maybe sometime next year to read it. It’s a pretty thick book!

I know right!? I love Downton Abbey…I can’t wait til January 2013 when season 3 starts!

I see you are also watching/watched Pillars of the Earth… How is it? Are you still planning to read the book as well?

Your post suddenly made me realize how much series has kept me from my reading too. :p
Yes..it’s a good thing they’re on a break now and won’t resume til January 2013. More time for reading
Ha! It happens to the best of us. Especially when Downton Abbey is on…
